Project Overview
ProPeers was created to bridge the critical disconnect between high-velocity engineering graduates and senior industry leaders. Early stage feedback revealed that traditional mentorship platforms were burdened by rigid booking forms, delayed calendar approvals, and disjointed payment gateways.
As Lead Product Designer, I spearheaded the complete product architecture, user research, and comprehensive Figma design system. Our goal was to build a frictionless, high-trust digital environment where professionals could discover tailored mentors in under 60 seconds, enroll in intensive cohort tracks, and track milestones transparently.
The Challenge
The fundamental friction in two-sided educational marketplaces is cognitive fatigue. Mentees experienced decision paralysis when browsing hundreds of unranked mentor profiles, resulting in a 68% drop-off before booking a single trial session.
At the same time, mentors were overwhelmed with manual schedule management across conflicting time zones, leading to missed sessions and churn. We needed to transform this chaotic interaction into a fluid, guided matching engine backed by clear calendar sync and transparent pricing.
The Outcome
We introduced an intelligent onboarding questionnaire that maps user career goals directly to verified mentor domains. We replaced the clunky multi-step checkout with a unified modal booking flow, live calendar slot picking, and instant escrow payments.
Within 6 weeks of release, onboarding-to-first-booking jumped by +45%, while mentor scheduling conflicts dropped by 74%. The scalable Figma component library allowed the engineering team to ship new cohort sprint features in half the development time.
